In recent times, the population of overweight people is overwhelmingly on the rise, with many people trying to lose weight one way or another. Unfortunately for some, the result is mostly unsuccessful. Are you part of this group of people or know someone who is? This book is for you. From it, you will learn how to lose weight successfully and naturally, and as an added advantage, you don't have to break the bank or join a gym to achieve this.
Break the Chains of Dieting by David Medansky exposes the secret to easy and effective weight loss and the cause of weight gain in most people. It's an educative and informative book that, if properly implemented, will help you achieve your weight loss goal and more. Not only will you lose weight, but your overall health will also be improved, as you will be living a healthier lifestyle. Break the Chains of Dieting is a guide to achieving a healthy lifestyle.
Being overweight was something I struggled with, and I'm still struggling with it as I write this review. I was bullied and suffered from low self-esteem. Being asked to review this book came as a gift to me because, as it stands, it seems like I've found the answer to my biggest problem on a silver platter.
Will you regard a problem with an obvious solution as a problem? I don't think so. This is because you only need to implement a workable solution to your problem and find it solved. That's exactly how I feel about the book Break the Chains of Dieting. It feels like the solution to my problem, as it contains practical secrets to weight loss. It is helpful because the author utilizes the principles to get a positive result for himself. One of the secrets he shares is eating healthy. Eating healthy doesn't mean you should go on a diet; the author brings a simple, yet ignored, aspect of healthy eating. Does this already go against what you know about weight loss? Are you already trapped in the general belief that you must go on a diet to successfully lose weight? Well, you will find one of the many secrets to successfully losing weight hidden in plain sight in this book. You will also know why you should avoid processed food.
I found the book easy to read and assimilate because the author shared stories and relatable lessons to weight loss. I especially found his story the most inspiring, as he was nearing certain death before deciding to lose weight. I found it inspiring because he did indeed lose weight and is already living healthy. So, all hope isn't lost for me and countless others who desperately need the solution in this book.
The greatest lesson I learned from the book that pertained to weight loss and life was always to be positive. I've learned how to implement positivity in my life through mantras. I implemented it the second day of reading this book, and it helped me cross a particular hurdle in my life.
I found the author's questions for people struggling with weight loss and the affirmations to losing weight helpful, as they would serve as a positive guide for readers in their weight loss journey.
Overall, I found Break the Chains of Dieting a beneficial book and had no issues with it, as it was easy to read, educative, and had minimal editing problems. Therefore, I would give it a perfect rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I would recommend it to people seeking to lose weight and those struggling with weight loss.

How many times have you gone on a diet? If you have dealt with excess weight, then there is a good chance you have tried at least one. But after going off your diet, you may have gained all of the lost weight back and more. Why are diets ineffective for weight loss and maintenance? In Break the Chains of Dieting, David Medansky explains why diets fail while providing advice on losing weight healthily and effectively. Readers will learn about the dangers of artificial sweeteners, setting healthy weight loss goals, how to think more positively about themselves, and much more. David has struggled with obesity and was able to lose a quarter of his total body weight. Because of his experience, David feels that this book will help others feel more confident in their abilities to change their lives.
The honest tone David uses is what I enjoyed most in this book. As hard as it is to hear the things he says, I loved that he was not afraid to say things how they were. In one instance, he told readers that they did not become overweight overnight; instead, they became so because of years of bad food choices. Readers should be ready to take a hard look at themselves if they are serious about becoming healthier. David clearly states that no one is to blame for an unhealthy lifestyle except the person who chose to live that way.
Learning about affirmations and declarations was something that I also liked. Honestly, using affirmations is not new to me; I use them every day when I do my work and exercises. However, using declarations with affirmations was a fresh concept to me. For example, one can affirm that they are in a healthy weight range while declaring that they make better food choices each day. I appreciated David for teaching his readers how to use these concepts together.
If there is one thing I would change, it would be for the author to add citations at the end of the book. David talks about two components in the American water system that are dangerous for American citizens to consume, but the Environmental Protection Agency has said they are safe anyway. I found information about it, but having the citations available would have made this research nearly effortless. This fallacy is also true for his discussion about artificial sweeteners.
Even though I would have liked a list of citations available, I do not think this was enough to deduct a star. Break the Chains of Dieting deserves nothing less than 4 out of 4 stars for its excellent presentation, research-backed opinions, and valuable information. Two instances of profanity are at the beginning of this book, but these profane words are the only ones throughout the text. A prayer to a higher being is in the introduction, but David does not talk about a specific religion in the book. Americans who want to live a healthier lifestyle or lose some weight will likely benefit from what this title has to offer.

Break the Chains of Dieting: 9 Fundamental Must Have Principles of Healthy Weight Loss isn’t a typical “eat this, not that” book. Instead, author David Medansky lists nine principles for losing weight and keeping it off. Medansky says that following the principles will not only bring weight loss but more energy and an improvement to overall health. He says the principles will also help reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. This is not a diet book. Instead, Medansky says weight loss can occur without dieting. The book includes a detailed explanation of the “nutrition facts” label found on most foods and another that explains how much protein, carbohydrates, fat, sugar, and fiber people should take in each day. Part of the book discusses how the food industry encourages overeating for its own profit. There’s also a list of recommended reading.
Break the Chains of Dieting is a different kind of weight loss book. Author David Medansky doesn’t tell readers what to eat; he tells them how to eat. Medansky writes in an easy-to-understand way by including anecdotes and placing important points in bulleted and numbered lists. The book is well researched, with many references to other works about losing weight and how our bodies operate. However, this book isn’t just about facts. It’s highly inspirational. Two of the appendices provide inspirational axioms and affirmations for those who want to lose weight. Medansky references his own weight loss battle and there’s an entire chapter devoted to what to do when the inevitable “falling off the wagon” occurs. There are no guarantees in life; however, it’s as close to a guarantee as possible that anyone who follows the advice in this book will lose weight. Equally important, they’ll keep it off. I recommend this book to anyone who’s serious about losing weight.

Break the Chains of Dieting: 9 Fundamental Must Have Principles of Healthy Weight Loss by David Medansky is a non-fiction self-help book. He uses 9 principles to help you lose weight. He uses stories and fables to help explain what they are. He also uses famous celebrities and doctors to help prove his point. David Mendasky uses his life to help motivate you into losing weight and keeping the weight off.
I thought that Break the Chains of Dieting by David Mendasky was very inspirational. I really loved the disclaimer, and hope that people read it. He explains that you should see a doctor before starting a diet of any kind, that his book is just for educational purposes. I liked how he not only defines things but explains how they help. My favorite one was about exercising. I never thought of it like that; it gave me an aha moment. The water info was fascinating too. I liked that David Mendasky used stories and fables to help explain things; the one I liked most was the one about the King and the boulder. I thought the quotes from famous celebrities were a nice touch; these added more motivation to the process.
I really loved how he said you do not have to do it all, and that you are bound to make mistakes but you should not be upset by them. He also has a website that you can check out for more info. If you are trying to lose weight or even just want to be healthier, then I recommend Break the Chains of Dieting; it is very informative and motivational.

When David Medansky wrote Break the Chains of Dieting: 9 Fundamental Must Have Principles for Healthy Weight Loss, he had a mission. It was to help readers learn how to improve and elevate their eating routines, behaviors, and habits so that they could lose weight in a healthy and sustainable manner without going on a diet. What a noble mission! He also had a goal which was to make an impact by being an example and encouraging those who wanted to be healthier. Is there a better way to learn than from somebody who has done it before? David Medansky not only lost 50 pounds in four months but has also successfully kept the weight off. So, whatever David Medansky wrote is not just theory, but from his actual experience. In the book, he shares the nine fundamental principles for healthy weight loss. He states the principles in the beginning of the book, and then elaborates on them in the subsequent chapters.
Being overweight is clearly a problem in today’s society as there are thousands of books and thousands of blogs and articles on diet, nutrition, fitness, and exercise. In Break the Chains of Dieting, David Medansky helps readers to sort out the myths from the facts and to be a guide along their weight loss journey. I particularly liked the chapters “No One is Born Overweight or Fat” and “Lose Weight One Pound at a Time”. I also liked the way David Medansky uses a story to illustrate a point. For example, he used “The Pot Roast Story” to illustrate the point that before any change can happen, readers need to know why they are doing what they are doing. Break the Chains of Dieting is worth its weight in gold when it comes to weight loss (pun intended)!

Losing weight isn’t about vanity; losing weight is about your health. David Medansky’s Break the Chains of Dieting will reframe your perspective of what it means to be healthy in our modern era. He breaks down facts and statistics and mixes them with short philosophical stories. Break the Chains of Dieting is an informative self-help book and a step in the right direction if you’re looking to become a healthier person, both physically and mentally. I was a young teen at the beginning of the social media boom in the 2010s. From my perspective, I can see why people my age might turn away from this book. Medansky criticizes our politically correct society because he believes it has harmed people, especially those who need to lose weight to be healthier. He raises these concerns without malice and writes that part of becoming a healthier person is honesty, acceptance, and patience with yourself. Medansky isn’t just all talk either. He wrote this book because he went through the trials and tribulations of being overweight. He doesn’t want his readers to waste any more time or money on things that will eventually just hurt their well-being. He would like to reframe their thinking on what it means to be healthy and why it matters. I would recommend Break the Chains of Dieting to people of any age, whether they are looking to lose weight or not. It’s a good and easy read. It certainly opened my eyes to things I didn’t know and had never considered.

When his doctor told him he had to lose weight or risk having a heart attack by a chance of 95%, David Medansky knew something had to change about his eating habits. In writing Break the Chains of Dieting, David Medansky aims to separate the myths from the facts about weight loss and to guide readers to a healthy and sustainable weight loss through nine “must-have fundamental principles”. The fundamental principles, which are born out of thousands of hours of research, enlighten readers about the adequate amount of water to drink per day, the dangers of processed and manufactured foods, maintaining healthy eating habits based on frequency and portions, and more helpful information. Break the Chains of Dieting takes readers through a less expensive weight-loss journey as it shows how it can be done without wasting money on costly diets and supplements, counting calories, and following particular exercise programs.
You know a book has left a significant impact on you if your choices and habits are affected by it before you even finish reading it. Break the Chains of Dieting explores several unconventional but logical suggestions that promise positive results. Even if you are not on a weight-loss journey, the insights about food provided in Break the Chains of Dieting are of astronomical importance for healthy living. David Medansky makes learning about healthy food choices both an exciting and thorough experience with several quotes from different brilliant minds, personal examples, straightforward and easy-to-understand language, and important research information. I have always struggled with weight my entire life. I was always the "cute chubby girl" or "the girl with a pretty face." David made the weight reduction process completely easy. I was not deprived of food nor was I hungry, there was no strenuous exercise routine, or accounting for ridiculous amounts of calories. I still got to enjoy the foods that I love! I now just make smarter healthier choices. I have successfully lost 25 lbs. and have not gained a pound back. I feel healthier and happier with myself. I have more energy and my self-confidence grew as the weight reduction shrunk. Thank you, David, for giving me the tools that I needed and the support and information you provided. I will continue this lifestyle ★★★★★
